Strands has been recognized as one of the leading FinTech innovators advancing the frontier of finance in Latin America (LatAm) in order to support small-to-medium sized businesses (SMEs) throughout the region.

We are proud to have been invited by the the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) to participate in the the inaugural FINPYME Forum in Medellín, Colombia from September 21-22. The event is the 1st forum on innovation in SME finance to be held in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region.

The forum aims to catalyze financial innovation in LAC by providing a space for cutting-edge FinTech innovators showcase opportunities to expand SME portfolios, manage risk more effectively, and understand their clients’ needs better.


Organized in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the SME Finance Forum, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE), the IIC has invited 400 leaders from Latin American banks, private firms, public agencies, academia and civil society to participate.

Strands will be represented by our VP of Sales and Operations (Americas) Cesar Richardson and Business Development Manager Leandro Gimeno, who will demo our award-winning Strands BFM on Day 2 (September 22) during the session “FinTech Innovations to Improve Client Relations and Risk Management”.

On Day 2, Cesar was invited to join Panel 6, entitled “Developing SME Portfolios through Enhanced Client Relationships: Leveraging Big Data, Social Media and Non-Financial Services”. Together with Devrim Tavil of TEB Bank, Matias Nuñez Castro of Santander, and Javier Sancho of Grupo BAC, Cesar will bring a FinTech company perspective on how big data can be leveraged to identify trends in SME demand and tailor marketing strategies to reach target audiences.
